GH Cranes’ global initiative promotes talent

GH Cranes & Components has launched an international initiative to attract talent and projects.

As one of the world’s leading lift sector companies, GH Cranes & Components has launched “Olea Premio (Prize) GH Cranes” to recognise initiatives from college students around the world presenting development ideas that involve GH-manufactured products such as bridges, cranes, and lifting machinery.

Aware of the future challenges facing manufacturing companies in this globalised world, the company’s senior management team has been working for some time to develop this initiative and attract eager young talent with fresh ideas that might not otherwise become part of the production framework.

The award includes a US$7000 prize for the winning idea, and US$4500 for the runner-up. Winners will also receive a trip to one of the company’s international branch offices to see first-hand the realities of a post-college world.

The GH initiative also has another more practical side, which is the ‘Start-Up Contest’ programme. Through this programme, GH will analyse entrepreneurship initiatives with leaders hoping to develop an idea around a present or future company and provide market access. GH has established the following areas as priorities: security systems, automation, digitalisation, and data analysis (all in the context of industry 4.0).

In this ‘Start-Up Contest’ programme, the selected projects will be evaluated by the company and, once analysed, GH may choose to invest in the project, or look for an international investor, ultimately signing a preferential commercial with the start-up.

The initiative is backed by support from various prestigious institutions that have been selected with a clear strategy to represent all geographic and thematic areas: Goierri Valley, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, BIC Gipuzkoa, CMAA (Crane Manufacturers Association of America), TECNUN, UPV/EHU and MU.

A website providing more details on this initiative has already launched, with details, schedules, and further information that can be found at https://olea.ghcranes.com/en
