Australian glass supplier receives customised Konecrane CXT

Konecranes has supplied Australia’s largest glass supplier Viridian, with a modified 5t CXT crane to handle operations at its glass trading centre.

The CXT range of wire rope hoist cranes come in two pre-designed packages and are designed for industrial workplaces where a lifting capacity of up to 80 tons is required.

The Viridian Trade Centre facility in Rosebury, Sydney, are using the crane for a range of material handling tasks including moving glass from racking to cutting tables. This particular CXT features an extra point on the hook which assists with the delicate operation.

“As you can imagine, moving glass is a difficult task, which is done with great ease and safety using a crane,” says store manager Matt Jacobs.

The retail trade centre offers a range of glass products and accessories, as well as cutting, processing and edging services for SMEs that can’t afford to buy their own machinery but need glass for their work.

Viridian, a CSR Limited company, has also signed an agreement with Konecranes for the service and maintenance of the crane.

“You don’t have to have a service agreement with the same company that manufactures the crane, but after seeing the knowledge and expertise Konecranes has shown, it was the only logical choice for us,” concludes Jacobs.
